This accreditation is designed for individuals working in the telecommunications sector, particularly those installing fibre within multi‑occupancy buildings. It also acts as the required entry point before progressing to SA031 – Working Safely in a Multi‑Dwelling Unit.
While SA030 is offered independently as a standalone qualification, it is also included within the combined pathway alongside SA029 Working Safely in a Single Dwelling Unit and SA031 Working Safely in a Multi‑Dwelling Unit.

SA030 - Fire Stopping Installation Joining Instructions
Once your booking is confirmed and payment is received, you’ll receive an email containing your full joining instructions for your SA030 – Fire Stopping Installation training course. This will include:
- Your selected course date
- Course start time at your chosen venue
- Address of your chosen venue, including a map screenshot
- Details of what to do if you need any special requirements to complete the course
- Reminder to bring photographic ID, such as a driving licence or passport
- Lunch is not included, so please bring your own.

Assessment and Certification
Assessment
This qualification will be assessed through a practical and theory test. The aim of the assessment is to ensure successful learners have adequate knowledge and understanding of Working Safely in a Multi-Dwelling Unit in a telecommunications environment.
Certification
This Smart Awards certificate is valid for 3 years; you will then need to complete the course again or attend a refresher course if available to renew your qualification.
NOPS Card
Smart Awards also offers its Network Operative Passport Scheme.
Managed and administered by Smart Awards, the card you receive has a unique QR code. When the card is scanned by employers or site managers with granted access, they will be able to securely view all information about your Awards qualifications, including when the course was taken and the expiry dates.
No longer do you need to hold several different cards for each of your qualifications – hold them all on one system, which is updated within a couple of weeks of achieving your qualification.

Entry Requirements
This qualification is available to anyone over the age of 16 years old. There are no formal entry requirements and Smart Awards will not restrict access on the grounds of prior academic attainment, age, employment, geographic location or any other grounds.
There are no barriers that restrict access or progression, thereby promoting equality. It is expected however, that learners will have a level of literacy adequate to cope with both the theory and practical assessments.
