Comprising of a set of specialised training courses, they focus on the installation, maintenance, and repair of Openreach’s network infrastructure. Notably, the “N” stands for “network,” and these courses cover various aspects of network operations, including fibre optic installation, overhead and underground network cabling, and other critical network maintenance tasks. Qualified trainers train engineers and contractors to ensure they are fully qualified to carry out their work safely and in compliance with Openreach’s requirements.

You will cover the following content on your N27 One Fibre Network Cabling in the Overhead Network course:

  • Mount a CBT on a pole in the correct position
  • Extend the CBT tail (COF250) to another pole
  • Route the SST cable down the pole to a jointing position
  • Install a CBT and ELM on the pole in the correct position
  • Span ULW fibre (COF215)
  • Secure the intermediate clamp on the ULW fibre.
  • Route ULW fibre down a pole
  • Secure ULW to the pole and correctly route the ULW fibre (COF215) onto the ELM

Notably, the training takes place over 1 day, while the other day is allocated to the questionnaire and practical assessment.
