What is the NHSS 12D M7 Open Course?

The NHSS 12D M7 Training Open Course is a classroom-based training course that offers training in designing and planning Temporary Traffic Management (TTM) schemes for urban and rural roads, ensuring compliance with national standards and regulations. An expert trainer with real-world experience will deliver the course, taking delegates through principle responsibilities, site requirements, and best practices for effective TTM design and planning.

Lantra developed this course in accordance with the National Highway Sector Scheme (NHSS) for supervisory roles, management, designers, client officers, technicians, and others responsible for overseeing TTM installations without physically performing them. Futhermore, M7 is designed for personnel who do not physically set out temporary traffic management but have temporary traffic management responsibilities M7 is a mandatory requirement for technical officers and the organisation’s TTM manager. In addition, it is strongly recommended for all other managers with TTM responsibilities. Ultimately, delegates will be able to interpret ‘The Safety at Street Works and Road Works, A Code of Practice (The Red Book)’ and guidance from ‘The Traffic Signs Manual, Chapter 8.’ They will also be able to assess the effectiveness of temporary traffic management plans.
