What is the IOSH Managing Safely Virtual Online Course?
Our IOSH Managing Safely course has been adapted for delivery online. This online virtual course allows you to take one of the most popular Health and Safety courses for managers anywhere using a tablet, laptop or desktop computer with an internet connection. Live and trainer-led via Zoom; you will be taken through the same material by your trainer and achieve the same certificate upon successful completion as you would in a classroom.
We have been running Virtual online IOSH Managing Safely courses using Zoom Classroom since 2020, and we have put a lot of time and effort into the virtual course’s development to make it a real long-term alternative to classroom courses.
If you have an internet connection, you can take the IOSH Managing Safely Course anywhere in the World.
Our open online IOSH courses run every week, so all you have to do is select a convenient date book, pay online or over the phone with one of our team members, and you will receive the joining instructions automatically.
How does a Virtual Online IOSH Managing Safely course work?
Your trainer will deliver the course online in real-time, so your experience with the IOSH Managing Safely course will be engaging and interesting. If you have any questions, your trainer is there, live, to support your understanding every step of the way. You will receive a Zoom link by email a few days before your course starts. On the day or first day of your course, use the link to join the group from anywhere using a laptop, computer or tablet.
Course duration
The IOSH Managing Safely virtual course is run over 3 days, the same duration as the classroom course. On the final day, you will also complete your online assessment and be introduced to your risk assessment task, which will form part of your final mark for the course.
Same Course, Same Certificate Achieved
With the virtual training, you can gain the IOSH Managing Safely certificate you need for your job or to further your career without leaving your home. There is no difference between the IOSH qualification gained on a classroom-based course and the virtual course.
The virtual course has been adapted to keep you actively involved in the group discussions and activities by using break-out rooms for small group work, online quizzes and polling and survey tools. Your expert trainer will give you step-by-step guidance on tackling health and safety matters in your workplace, as well as helping you learn through scenarios managers and supervisors can relate to.
IOSH Managing Safely Course Content
The IOSH Managing Safely course content covers the seven modules below. It follows the same structure as the classroom-based open course, providing delegates with an insight into health and safety practices learning about their legal responsibilities to themselves, their employer and others, according to current legislation.
Module 1 – Introducing Managing Safely – some managers may see health and safety as an add-on to their role, even an intrusion. The first module makes it clear that managers are accountable for their teams.
Module 2 – Assessing Risks – this module defines and demystifies ‘risk’ and ‘risk assessment’. Risk assessments and a simple scoring system are introduced, and delegates carry out a series of assessments.
Module 3 – Controlling Risks – here, the session tackles cutting risks down, concentrating on the best techniques to control key risks, and how to choose the right method.
Module 4 – Understanding Your Responsibilities – the demands of the law and how the legal system works and introduces a health and system management system.
Module 5 – Identifying Hazards – all the main issues any operation has to deal with are covered in this module – entrances and exits, work traffic, fire, chemicals, electricity, physical and verbal abuse, bullying, stress, noise, housekeeping and the working environment.
Module 6 – Investigating Accidents and Incidents – the session starts with why accidents should be investigated and goes on to cover why things go wrong and how to carry out an investigation when they do.
Module 7 – Measuring Performance – this module explains how checking performance can help to improve health and safety. Delegates learn how to develop basic performance indicators and get to grips with auditing and proactive and reactive measuring.
